Urban planners develop a concept for an urban axis between downtown Chemnitz and Brühl

The renowned architecture office Albert Speer & Partner was assigned by the city of Chemnitz to develop a new urban design concept for a downtown axis from the present city and the expanded TU Campus, along the Straße der Nationen (“street of nations”), to the district Brühl. The current design, according to the Major Barbara Ludwig, has the ability to interconnect the entire district and its infrastructure and create links between downtown Chemnitz and Brühl.

Qatar entices the FIFA with their high-tech stadiums

The bidding phase for 2018 and 2022 is in progress and Qatar wants to become the first Arabic country to host the Football World Cup. In this process Qatar has dug deep into its pockets and its bag of tricks.

Of the 12 total stadiums, three existing stadiums will be reconstructed and nine new stadiums will be built. The majority of the designs for the Arabian stadiums were developed by the German architecture office Albert Speer & Partner GmbH.

Where families are always welcome

In cooperation with the Evangelischer Regionalverband, the city has opened a new center.

The neat building with its large garden, designed by star architect Albert Speer, welcomed similar numbers of parents and children to its opening and quite obviously made its visitors feel comfortable.

The first Anglican center for children and families in Frankfurt was opened yesterday in Goldstein. In addition to a daycare center and a toddler’s group, parents can also find a support and education center here.

Marking the official opening of the new Daycare Center Goldstein, attended by the education department head Jutta Ebeling, the FR reports on the advantages of the building designed by the renowned Frankfurter architecture office: Albert Speer & Partner. Most important to the client was that the building allowed plenty of light, explained architect Wittmann. An equally important requirement was that the 2-storied building be realized in passive house standard. In the meantime this has become a requirement that is almost self-evident in Frankfurt, Wittmann states.

At the Citizens’ Forum on Tuesday, Stefan Kornmann and Annette Hahn-Schütz of AS&P presented the first results of their studies for an integrated urban development concept therewith initiating an interesting discussion. Citizen suggestions are to be taken into consideration within the existing concept and discussed anew at the next Citizens’ Forum.

On the 8th of June there will be a public panel discussion calling for the participation of interested citizens, allowing them to express their suggestions and proposals. First analysis results will also be presented during this panel discussion.
