Systematic applied commentary BauGB/BauNVO
Joachim Bothe, coordinator of AS&P’s urban land use planning department, is a member of the interdisciplinary team of authors, who has, using his wide-ranging practical experience, edited central urban land use planning paragraphs § 5 und § 9 of the BauGB (building code of law), providing numerous examples and practice-related advice. BauGB regulations are assessed according to their practical significance and edited while having regard for contiguous legal reports (environmental law, law for emission control, etc.).

AS&P - Albert Speer & Partner (Shanghai) wins 'North Bund' international ideas competition
AS&P wins competition
In the selection procedure for taking part in the 'North Bund' international ideas competition in Shanghai Gensler, USA, Cox, Australia and AS&P, Germany were the companies that prevailed.
AS&P emerged as the ultimate winner of the competition.
The AS&P concept makes use of the prime location covering some two square kilometers and outstanding access through a concentrated urban, vibrant new ecological quarter, with a networked system of small open spaces with a high-quality environment.

Munich becomes Candidate City
Munich was elected as an official candidate city by the IOC today at 1:30pm. Following the successful elaboration of a feasibility study in 2007, AS&P, together with ARGE-Partner ProProjekt, have been responsible for the development of the sustainable Olympic master plan, including the management and production of necessary bid documents (Mini-Bid Book and Bid Book), since the beginning of 2009. During this process AS&P/ProProjekt were supported by the bureau for marketing communication, abold.
In July 2011 one of the candidate cities will be selected as the host of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Qatar presents World Cup Arenas planned by AS&P
During the SportAccord Qatar presented five Football Arenas for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, all of them designed by AS&P.
The design is a combination of an high-tech design-approach and local cultural and historic elements. Sustainability was a main design criterion with a very high priority. „Qatar will build the first CO2-neutral stadia in the world !“ said Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani in Dubai. An highly innovative energy-design, using solarpower to produce most oft he needed energy, will limit temperatures in the arenas to 27°C. All FIFA-requirements will be fulfilled in an optimal way.

SportAccord 2010
Again in 2010 AS&P, together with ProProjekt and abold, will be represented at the SportAccord event. This year the trade fair will take place from the 27th to the 29th of April in Dubai. Throughout the event, Friedbert Greif and Joachim Schares from AS&P can be found at Stand B18.

Intelligent Transport and Traffic Systems
proficiency cluster ITS is established
On the brink of the international transport congress “Stragegien in Bewegung (strategies in motion)”, the association ITS Hessen (Intelligent Transport and Traffic Systems) was established. Michael Dinter, partner at AS&P was elected to the board as one of the 24 founding members. The association is appointed for the advancement, development and implementation of Intelligent Transport and Traffic Systems (ITS).

Submittal of building application
At the beginning of March the building application for the first phase of the “Quartier Mitte” at the Frankfurt Riedberg was submitted. In 2009, AS&P won the realization competition for this project. According to the concept from AS&P, a residential quarter with around 27,500 sqm GFA and around 230 residential units is planned. Several buildings within the quarter will be built according to passive house standards.

MIPIM 2010
From March 16th until March 19th AS&P – Albert Speer and Partner GmbH will be represented at the MIPIM in Cannes. At the city of Frankfurt’s stand in the Espace Riviera, R 33.07, AS&P will be engaged in a collaborative fair appearance with ProProjekt and the Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt, amongst others.

Plans for the Europe Quarter are complete
The urban planning department head, Edwin Schwarz, signed the ordinance decree for the “Europe Quarter West – Subarea 2” legal zoning plan. Schwarz stated that, “herewith we now have all legal zoning plans for the entire Europe Quarter, which brings us one step closer to the realization of one of the largest downtown conversion areas in Europe”.
The office of AS&P developed the framework plan for the former commercial railway area, upon which basis in-depth structural concepts were elaborated, an international urban planning competition was carried out and the Master Plan 2020 for the Frankfurt Trade Fair was developed. These plans were the foundation for the legal zoning plans. The office also consulted with property owners and organized the necessary planning processes. In the process, AS&P worked in close, constant collaboration with the municipal administration.
