J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 2016

AS&P team took part yet again

The 13-runner team from AS&P and PROPROJEKT ignored the unstable weather conditions and competed in the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge 2016. All the runners successfully completed the 5.7-kilometer course through downtown Frankfurt, and afterwards the team saw the evening out together over supper in the city’s Sachsenhausen district.

Foundation stone laid for housing development

Official ceremony on Adickesallee in Frankfurt/Main

At an official ceremony attended by Mayor Peter Feldmann and Frank Junker, CEO of ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING, the foundation stone was laid for the housing development on Adickesallee. 189 residential units, an underground car park and a 6-wing nursery are to be built on the site formerly occupied by the Ministry of Agriculture. The urban development concept devised by AS&P envisages a peripheral block comprising four buildings and a stand-alone structure in the interior courtyard. AS&P is responsible for the southern peripheral block, the stand-alone, and the underground car park.

Lounges at Munich Airport commissioned

Business and Senator Lounges opened

Designed for Lufthansa by AS&P, the Senator and Business Lounges in the new Terminal 2 satellite at Munich Airport were commissioned in May 2016. In the four lounges 600 passengers can avail themselves of a comfort zone with a spectacular view of the apron, not to mention a spacious bistro and self-contained quiet zones, as well as working and meeting rooms.

“National Spatial Development Plan of Georgia”

Presentation to Government Commission in Tiflis

The fourth meeting with the Georgian Government Commission into the “National Spatial Development Plan of Georgia” (NSDP) was held on May 30 in Tiflis. Joachim Schares presented the project vision and approach drawn up by AS&P and project partners from City Institute Georgia (CIG) and the BERNARD Group to, among others, Deputy Prime Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili and the Georgian Minister of Finance. A decision with regard to commissioning is expected to be made in the next few weeks.


Young Entrepreneurs Club at Bilkent University in Ankara pays a visit

Business talk at AS&P

The Young Entrepreneurs Club at Bilkent University in Ankara is visiting internationally successful firms from all sectors so as to give the students a direct insight into the companies. As part of the series of business talks, which have already taken place in Dubai, London, and Paris, the students from the top-ranking university also visited AS&P in Frankfurt. Here they discussed the opportunities open to, and the challenges facing an international firm of architects and planners with Dr. Michael Denkel, and gained an insight from André Friedel into current planning and coordination processes on the BIM project for the MCI headquarters in Riyadh.

Witnesses – From the “Museumsufer” development to the area bordering the River Main

Over the past few decades the area bordering the River Main, formed by the river itself, its banks and the immediately adjacent quarters, was the scene of outstanding strategic plans and projects that were part of Frankfurt’s urban development policy. This publication is a documentation of discussions with witnesses of the “Museumsufer” development attended by the relevant departmental heads and top officials in the municipal cultural, planning, and building authorities at the time, as well as Albert Speer as an external planner.



The AS&P management visits Shanghai office

Board meeting in China

Prof. Albert Speer, Gerhard Brand, Friedbert Greif and Axel Bienhaus visited AS&P’s Shanghai office in May. Among other things they attended an event in Anting organized by ‘Vanke’, the largest Chinese project and property developer. ‘Vanke’ has assumed responsibility for the ‘German Town’ district designed by AS&P and is moving its development forward. Prof. Speer was the main speaker at the event, while Johannes Dell and Axel Bienhaus took part in the panel discussion.

AS&P is the strongest brand among architects in Germany


Identifying the strongest brands in ten categories involved taking a close look at the brand values of the major companies operating in the real estate industry in Germany. The target group panel had 13,069 sector experts, and 423 companies were scrutinized during the survey period in spring 2016. European Real Estate Brand Institute GmbH chose AS&P as the winner of the “Architects” category.

Professor Albert Speer Foundation supports the “Space as a Research Laboratory” international doctoral forum at Vienna Technical University

2 doctoral scholarships awarded

On May 3 Friedbert Greif, managing partner at AS&P and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Prof. Albert Speer Foundation awarded two doctoral scholarships at Vienna Technical University. These went to Anna Kirstgen from Cologne for her scientific investigation “Raumreiz” (The charm of space) and Bettina Wyss from Zurich for her paper “Zu Hause im Quartier?” (At home in the quarter?). The Professor Albert Speer Foundation serves to promote and train students and graduates in the field of architecture and planning. It helps its scholarship holders conduct outstanding project work and promotes the advancement of architecture and planning, including at international level.

Housing designed by AS&P on construction site 26 in the “Europaviertel” district

“7FLOORS” show apartment opened

The housing designed by AS&P on plot 26 in the “Europaviertel” district is making leaps and bounds! The four buildings (KfW Efficiency Building 70) with a gross surface area of approx. 18,000 square meters are grouped around an interior courtyard and have room for a total of 182 1 to four-room apartments. Commissioning is due by August 2016.
